The Sant Surdas Disability Assistance Scheme is a welfare initiative launched by the Government of Gujarat through the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.
This scheme aims to provide monthly financial support of ₹1,000 to severely disabled children (0–17 years) belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
The assistance is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), ensuring transparency and timely payments.
Objective of Sant Surdas Scheme
The primary objective of the Sant Surdas Yojana is to:
- Support children with 80% or more disability
- Reduce the financial burden on poor families
- Encourage medical care, education, and rehabilitation
- Promote social security for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)
Benefits Under Sant Surdas Yojana
- Monthly Financial Assistance: ₹1,000
- Annual Assistance: ₹12,000
- Payment Mode: Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)
- Beneficiary Age Limit: 0 to 17 years
- Discontinuation: Automatically stops after 18 years
Eligibility Criteria (Very Important)
Applicants must fulfill all the following conditions:
- Permanent resident of Gujarat
- Age between 0 and 17 years
- 80% or more disability, or unable to move independently even with artificial limbs
- Name included in BPL list with BPL score up to 20
- Disability Card issued by State Government
- Applicable for both rural & urban BPL families
Note: The assistance is stopped once the beneficiary attains 18 years of age.
How to Apply Online – Step-by-Step Guide
Eligible applicants can apply through the e-Samaj Kalyan Portal by following these steps:
- Visit: https://esamajkalyan.gujarat.gov.in/
- Click on Citizen Login → New User Registration
- Enter Aadhaar details, DOB, gender, caste, email, etc.
- Complete registration and login using User ID & Password
- Update User Profile with required information
- Select Sant Surdas Scheme from the dashboard
- Fill the application form carefully
- Upload all required documents
- Agree to terms & submit the application
- Save or print the Application Number for tracking
Documents Required for Application
Applicants must upload scanned copies of the following:
- Passport-size photograph
- Aadhaar Card
- Disability Certificate / UDID Card
- Proof of Age (Birth Certificate / School Leaving Certificate)
- BPL Certificate (Score up to 20)
- Residence Proof (Ration Card / Electricity Bill / Voter ID / Aadhaar)
- Bank Passbook First Page / Cancelled Cheque
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
