New Rules from 1 March 2026: Changes in Train Booking, LPG Prices, UPI & Mobile Apps

New Rules March 2026: From 1 March 2026, several important changes have come into effect that may impact the daily lives of common citizens. These changes affect areas such as mobile apps, LPG cylinder prices, banking rules, and train ticket booking systems. The impact will not only be on your wallet but also on digital payments, mobile communication, and travel.

If you use digital payments, buy LPG cylinders, or travel by train, these updates are important for you to know.

SIM Binding Rules for Messaging Apps

A major change related to messaging apps may come into effect under the new SIM binding rules. Apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal will now be linked with an active SIM card.

This means that if you remove the SIM card from your phone, these messaging apps may stop working. Previously, users could still access apps like WhatsApp even without an active SIM in the device.

The main objective behind this move is to prevent digital fraud. In recent years, cases of SIM swap fraud and fake registrations have increased. To improve security, messaging apps will require an active SIM connection. Additionally, WhatsApp Web and other desktop versions may automatically log out every six hours.

Train Ticket Booking Changes

From 1 March 2026, the rules for booking general tickets, platform tickets, and season tickets have also changed.

Passengers will now have to use the RailOne mobile app for booking these tickets. The old UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) mobile app has been discontinued.

However, passengers can transfer the balance from their UTS wallet to the new RailOne app by logging in using the same mobile number.

LPG Cylinder Price Update

The price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders has been reduced by ₹28–₹31. In Delhi, the new price is approximately ₹1745.50.

However, the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged.

As usual, oil companies review LPG prices on the first day of every month, depending on factors such as international crude oil prices and fluctuations in the US dollar.

Changes in Banking and UPI Rules

Under the updated UPI regulations, large transactions may now require biometric verification or multi-factor authentication, in addition to the usual UPI PIN.

Some public sector banks have also revised penalties for not maintaining the minimum balance, which may provide relief to many customers.

New Rules for Tenants and Landlords

Possible new rental regulations for 2025–26 introduce several changes in rental agreements.

  • Digital registration of rent agreements may become mandatory.

  • Landlords may collect a maximum security deposit of two months’ rent.

  • Landlords must give 24 hours’ notice before entering the rented property.

These new rules aim to increase transparency, security, and fairness between tenants and property owners.
