IMD Forecasts Showers During Navratri Festivities
IMD Forecasts Showers During Navratri Festivities: Navratri celebrations across India may face disruptions as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe rainfall forecast. According to the latest update, two active weather systems are likely to bring widespread showers over Gujarat and several other states, raising concerns that festive garba nights could be affected.
IMD Forecasts Showers During Navratri Festivities
The IMD reports that an upper-air circulation persists over coastal Myanmar and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal. This system is gradually moving westwards, which could lead to the formation of a low-pressure area over the central Bay of Bengal.
By September 26, the system is expected to intensify into a depression over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal near the south Odisha–north Andhra Pradesh coast.
Around September 27, it is likely to cross the coastal regions of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh.
