Gujarat Marriage Certificate 2021

Marriage has to be compulsorily registered to prove that you are legally married to someone. In Gujarat, marriage can be registered either under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or Special Marriage Act, 1954. In this article, we look at the guidelines for obtaining the Gujarat marriage certificate.


Purpose of Marriage Certificate

A marriage certificate is a recognized document that helps in obtaining passport, visas and PAN card. Further, a marriage certificate is required to claim bank deposits and life insurances.

Eligibility Criteria
  • In Gujarat, to obtain a marriage certificate, the following criteria must be fulfilled:
  • The bride minimum age should be 18 years, and the groom minimum age should be at least 21 years.
  • Both bride and groom must be a citizen of India. In case of marriage with a foreigner, No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required.
Documents Required

The following documents are to be submitted by the applicant at the time of furnishing the application form. The Complete documents must be attested by the Gazetted Officer or by Notary public.
  • Birth Certificate.
  • Proof of address like a voter ID card or ration card.
  • School leaving certificate.
  • Marriage invitation card.
  • Two passport size photograph.
  • Nationality Certificate.
In case of NRI, the following documents to be submitted by the bride and groom.
  • Copy of passport.
  • Address proof.
  • Employers ID proof.
  • Residence proof of two NRI witnesses.
  • Residence proof of two local witnesses.

Marriage Certificate Fee Structure
  • The following information is given for the Fee structure of the Marriage certificate which is required to be paid.
  • You have to pay Rs. 5 In case you have registered the Marriage within 30 days of the Marriage of the candidate.
  • In case you have registered the Marriage after 30 days then you have to Pay Rs.Rs.15/-‘
  • If the Marriage is registered after 3 months then the fee for the Marriage Registration which is required to be paid is Rs. 25/-
Procedure for Registration of Marriage certificate

To obtain Gujarat marriage certificate, follow the steps specified here:

Step 2: Click on ” Online Services” option which is visible on the home page.Step 2 Gujarat Marriage Certificate

Step 3: Then select “Online Forms” to download the marriage registration application form.Step 3 Gujarat Marriage Certificate

Step 4: Enter the necessary details in the application form and attach the prescribed documents.

Step 5: One needs to submit the duly filled application form to the concerned authority of the Registrar office.

Step 6: Get a receipt for application from the concerned office.

Note: Once the application has verified, you will get the marriage certificate within seven working days from the date of application.
